Our offshore construction client is seeking a Noise Monitoring Representative to support their work on an offshore windfarm in the Northeast US. Applicants must hold a valid US work visa.
Job description
- Noise Monitoring and Assessment:
- Conducting regular noise measurements during construction to assess compliance.
- Using acoustic monitoring systems or other monitoring equipment to collect noise data.
- Assessing the impact of construction and operational activities on nearby marine wildlife and the environment.
- Deployment of acoustic monitoring buoys.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyzing noise data to ensure it aligns with permitted thresholds or regulatory limits.
- Preparing reports on noise levels and mitigation measures.
- Communicating findings to the project management team, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensuring that noise mitigation measures are in place and effective.
- Staying updated on local, state, and federal noise regulations and ensuring project adherence.
- Working with regulators to address concerns and maintain compliance with noise ordinances.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Collaborating closely with the Bubble Curtain Manager and Protected Species Observers, as well as construction managers and other contractors.
Job requirements
- Education: A degree in environmental science, acoustical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in noise management or environmental consulting.
- Experience: Previous experience in noise assessment or environmental mitigation in the energy, construction, or infrastructure sectors, particularly in wind energy or renewable projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in noise modeling software, sound level meters, and other relevant monitoring equipment. Understanding of noise regulations and mitigation technologies.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with local, state, and federal noise regulations (e.g., EPA guidelines, OSHA standards) and how they apply to wind energy projects.
- Certifications:
- GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) – Required for working in the wind industry. It includes training in areas like fire awareness, manual handling, working at heights, and sea survival.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) – For personnel working on offshore wind farms or offshore platforms, this training ensures the ability to safely evacuate a helicopter in case of an emergency landing in water.
- Medical – A valid medical certification is often required for offshore or safety-sensitive roles, ensuring the individual is physically fit for the challenging and potentially hazardous work environment.
