We are looking for a Load Handling Specialist to act as a technical consultant in lifting and handling services, as well as to promote safe lifting and handling operations in accordance with the client's policies.
The services are part of the client's project team.
- The services report to the Deputy Installation Manager and the CPLO.
Job description
- Evaluate/monitor on-site working conditions related to construction works.
- Promote safe lifting and handling operations, in line with the client’s HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and international standards, by evaluating the lifting and handling organization at the affiliate and reviewing engineering calculations for critical lifts.
- Approve lifting plans and participate in operations; consult the CPLO for approval of critical lifting plans.
- Conduct condition checks and fitness-for-purpose assessments of lifting equipment/accessories, CCUs, and evaluate their use on-site.
- Provide specialized lifting and handling consultancy to all RSES/RSES-D and Project Managers, in addition to conducting annual reviews.
- Participate in all lifting and handling audits at the affiliate and report HIPO (high potential severity) incidents to the CPLO Coordinator at the head office.
- Assess the competence of personnel to perform lifting or handling operations.
- Participate in the development and training plan for users until they achieve the required competence.
- Be responsible for maintaining and developing methodologies, rules, and instructions for lifting and handling operations.
- Coordinate interfaces with other affiliate entities and departments, as well as with the head office LSO.
- Propose individuals for appointment as SLS (Site Load Specialist).
- Seek CPLO assistance when the competencies of the SLS are insufficient.
- Communicate and ensure the competence of workers at the affiliate.
Job requirements
Previous Experience in Crane Operations, Rigging, and Lifting Supervision/Management
- Previous experience in crane operations, rigging, and lifting operations at a supervisory/management level.
- Educational level of Technical Engineer and/or industry-related qualifications such as LEEA, EAL, OPITO, CPA, etc.
- Proficient in spoken and written English (intermediate/advanced).
- Experience working with international standards such as BS, ISO, API, LOLER, NORSOK, etc.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry, with expertise in both onshore and offshore operations.
- Professional profile as: Rigger, Rigger Foreman, Rigging Supervisor, Lifting Supervisor, Lifting Superintendent.
- Strong knowledge of typical software (MS Office 365).
- Strong reporting and presentation skills.

- General lifting equipment.
- All types of cranes (onshore and offshore).
- Containers and CCUs.
- Forklifts and pallet trucks.
- Winches and hoists.
- Overhead cranes, track beams, and jib arms.
- Steel cable inspector.
- Competency assessor.
