From Construction to Offshore: Meet Eivind Seljevoll

In a recent interview, we had the opportunity to speak with Eivind Seljevoll, Roughneck, an experienced Professional in the Norwegian Oil & Gas industry. Throughout the interview, Eivind shared valuable insights and shed light on the feasibility of pursuing opportunities within this industry for those who acquired their skills elsewhere – and what the future may hold for his career!

When asked about what led him to choose an offshore life, Eivind discussed the factors that led to the decision of transitioning to the offshore sector in detail as he expressed his desire for a change from a “hectic” construction job with limited free time: "I chose this career because I am fascinated by how you can drill in such great depths and pressures," Eivind said. "Moreover, the attractive salary, flexible schedule, and increased leisure time were key motivators in my decision. Looking back, I am very glad I made the call."

Eivind highlighted the significant role of Atlas Professionals in their career journey too: "The relationship with Atlas Professionals has been very good," Eivind remarked. "They have believed in me and continuously provided me with good job opportunities over the past five years. The company's organization and ease of working with them are remarkable. Exploring the Norwegian Energy Industry

As for the future of the Norwegian Energy industry? As an industry veteran, Eivind expressed optimism about Norway's influential position in the global energy market and had some insight on how things should move forward: "To solidify its place in the global energy market, Norway should focus on producing more offshore wind power to supply the rigs and platforms," Eivind suggested. "Maintaining high standards in the gas and oil sector is crucial, and expanding operations to new areas within Norway, such as the middle regions, can bring new opportunities. Additionally, investing in new technologies to maximize production from existing wells would be beneficial."

Regarding future ambitions, Eivind aspires to secure a stable job in the industry to further elevate an already decent work-life balance and eventually become a Driller: “I’m happy to be part of the oil history in Norway and I’m glad Atlas Professionals gave me the chance to do so. Hope it will last throughout my life and aim to become a Driller in the very near future.”
