As Atlas Professionals continues to expand its operations in the Americas region, the need to work with colleagues who excel at what they do and have a great amount of experience within the region becomes significantly important. To understand how our operations in Brazil take place, and how experienced colleagues can make a difference in creating an environment where professional development is supported and encouraged, we sit down with Deusimar Cunha, Business Controller. Discussing her time with Atlas Professionals – and what has she been doing for our ever-growing organisation – is a testament to our growing presence in Americas.
Atlas Professionals is a people business, connecting talent across the world and introducing them to opportunities in the Energy, Marine and Renewables industries that can elevate their career. To facilitate this through our back-office, we require Financial Analysis, Financial Forecasting, Financial Planning, and Financial Monitoring. In Brazil, that angle is covered by Deusimar, who comes with a great deal of industry experience: “Before accepting the role of Business Controller here at Atlas Professionals, I worked for an international audit firm, for over a decade – allowing me to engage in various projects that allow me to bolster our organisation today. So, I can say that I have been actively working with data regarding the Oil & Gas and Energy industries since 2010,” she reminisces.
Deusimar has been with us for some time now, and has already found herself in a position where she can both develop her own career and help others achieve the same: “I have been working for Atlas Professionals since 2021, and I find great satisfaction in being a part of this organisation as our shared passion for training and development of people is something I value a lot. Assisting in the growth and development of individuals is an integral part of my professional journey. It brings me immense joy to contribute to people´s learning,” she adds.
Overcoming Challenges and Enjoying Rewards
Deusimar explains how she always an environment where she can challenge herself to be better at her job – and how Atlas Professionals is an excellent place for someone like her: “One perk I like about Atlas Professionals is that I get a chance to constantly challenge myself. For example, recently, I got a chance to visit a large vessel docked at the Rio harbour – this was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to find out more about the industry and the position itself.”
She also adds how this level of support never goes unnoticed within the industry: “Due to efforts like this, I'm proud to say that I can observe Atlas Professionals gaining increasing recognition within Brazil. We've witnessed a growing engagement of Professionals with our company's talent pool, enrolment rates and social media presence, and it's heartening to see that our reputation is attracting talented Professionals and prominent Clients who are interested in working with us. These days, it’s very common to see a Professional giving us a call stating they heard us from their colleagues,” adds Deusimar with a smile.
One of the core values of Atlas Professionals is our dedication to investing in people – and by people, we also mean our staff. As such, Atlas Professionals continues to be a dynamic work environment where one can work on their already strong set of skills or develop new ones thanks to robust inter-department cooperation and collaboration.
Steering Towards a Fulfilling Career – and a Greener Future
Deusimar also stresses the importance of having a more sustainable industry – both for Atlas Professionals and other stakeholders – as the challenges continue to be present, even if they change with the time: “I would like to share my sincere appreciation for a future that prioritizes safety, sustainability, and the principles of ESG within Atlas Professionals. As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of our time, it is increasingly clear that we must embrace responsible business practices that not only benefit our organisations but also contribute to the greater good of society and the environment.”
As for her future? Deusimar appears to be delighted with her career and her position at Atlas Professionals: “I couldn't be more excited about my position at Atlas Professionals. I view the daily challenges as opportunities for personal and professional growth - overcoming these obstacles brings me a sense of fulfilment, and I'm fully engaged in navigating the ever-evolving Energy industry in Brazil!"
Deusimar’s aspirations for the future seem to be progressing nicely as recently, she joined our Atlas Professionals LDP Programme (or, Leadership Development Programme) where promising colleagues across our offices around the world meet to learn more about managerial side of things so that they can further contribute to our growing organisation – allowing us to continue investing in people, the Atlas Professionals way.
