As a Business Team Partner of the football club AZ Alkmaar, Atlas regularly invites clients to attend a football match. On 2 February 2013, Atlas was game sponsor of the match AZ - FC Groningen. That meant extra privileges, like seats in the skybox and boardroom and a tour of the stadium. Unfortunately AZ lost the game, but it was an exciting and very pleasant evening.
Delegates of Total, Gasunie, Seatrucks, Baker Hughes and Jack-Up Barge Operations B.V, together with personnel of Atlas.
Unbeatable
While FC Groningen quells the advance that AZ had since the winter break, the ambiance is good. Also Henk van Dijken, superintendent at Gasunie, remains positive: “I was born in Groningen, but I now live in Noord-Holland, so basically, I can’t loose”, he laughs. AZ ends the fascinating duel with 10 men. Also Robert Maaskant, the coach of FC Groningen, is sent to the stands.
Man of the Match
After the game, Marjon van Maanen of Jack-Up Barge Operations B.V. and her daughter are invited to come to the field and hand flowers to the Man of the Match: team captain Nick Viergever. A photographer shoots a picture, which is being brought to the skybox by the Man of the Match himself. “This is so great, first the tour through the stadium, then the picture of us with Nick. I think this is a grandiose evening”, says Marjon van Maanen. Team captain Nick Viergever also brings the match ball with him. This goes to Dirk Bantema of Total, for giving the best answers to the questionnaire that was handed out earlier in the evening.
Rematch
“Being here to watch the match was very nice, although the outcome was a little less fun”, says Dennis Nuij, Sales Manager at Baker Hughes. “But if you have tickets in the future, I am more than happy to keep myself recommended. I find this a great opportunity to get to know each other in an informal atmosphere.” Henk van Dijken of Gasunie agrees: “I like to meet business contacts in such a context. It gives you an additional topic to be enthusiastic about. Moreover, my son will be amazed by the ball with the signature.”
