Atlas sponsors the Ladies 1 volleyball team of Sliedrecht Sport. On Saturday 13 April 2013, for the second time in a row, the ladies took the League title with a 3-0 victory on SV Dynamo Apeldoorn.
Joyful event
At a sold-out sports hall in Sliedrecht called "De Stoep", the ladies of coach Appie Krijsen addressed the victory. More than 1,200 spectators were there to witness the climax of the season: becoming national volleyball champion in front of a home crowd. "We may not have the best players, but we definitely form the best team. And we have performed consistently'', said veteran Pamela Domselaar. In less than forty minutes time Pamela Domselaar scored the winning ace, after which the party in Sliedrecht erupted.
Supreme
During the season Sliedrecht Sport continuously held a top position in the league. “It is difficult to perform a whole year long at a constant level. It’s very special that we became champion with such a big gap between us and the number two”, says coach Abbie Krijsen.
Pleasant atmosphere
For more than five years International Crew Services (ICS) sponsored the Volleyball Club Sliedrecht Sport. Through the acquisition of ICS some months ago, Atlas has taken over the sponsorship. Paul Steeghs, Director of Atlas Services Group Marine, stated: "It was great to experience this volleyball final. Sponsoring a successful volleyball team is a nice addition to the sports teams we already sponsor, like the STC sloop rowing club and AZ, the Dutch Premium League football club". Atlas Services Group will continue the sponsorship next year. We hope they will head towards the third victory in a row!
