On its maiden voyage, the Pioneering Spirit has successfully removed the 13,500 ton YME MOPU jack up type platform in a single lift. The creation of Dutch-Swiss offshore leader Allseas, the Pioneering Spirit is the world’s largest heavy lift construction vessel and has a topsides lift capacity of 48,000t, jacket lift capacity of 25,000t and pipe cargo carrying capacity of 27,000t.
YME MOPU
The YME MOPU based at the YME field in the North Sea was decommissioned by operator Repsol Norge AS due to the jack up’s redundancy in the field.
A Team Effort
Atlas Professionals have been involved with the provision of offshore personnel for the vessel, since day one. Atlas’ offshore marine team have supplied a variety of personnel to the project such as, Mechanics, Chief Engineers, Safety Officers, and Electricians from different nationalities from the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Croatia, Latvia and the UK.
A Major Milestone for Allseas
The platform has now been sea-fastened on-board and the vessel is currently on her way to the newly developed dismantling yard in Lutelandet in Norway.
This project marks a major milestone for Allseas, demonstrating the capabilities of this unique vessel. We are honoured to be chosen as one of Allseas suppliers for the Pioneering Spirit and a part of maritime history in the making.
