Our offshore marine client is seeking an experienced Port Manager to work onsite in New London, CT. This vital role will work as a liaison between the onshore engineering team, offshore construction team, and vessel crew. This person will interface with the end client on offshore wind construction projects as needed to oversee our client's vessel activities. This is a 6-12 month contract with possible extensions, ideally starting as soon as possible. As this is a primarily onshore role, we will only be able to consider US nationals/permanent residents or those with a visa allowing for onshore work.

Job description

  • Onshore operational liaison for jack-up windfarm installation vessel(s)
  • Ensure effective communication and information flow regarding project schedules, operational plans, technical requirements, logistics, and unforeseen challenges
  • Monitor vessel performance, efficiency, and adherence to operational procedures
  • Serve as a key operational point of contact with the end clients, including Orsted, SGRE, and other project stakeholders as needed
  • Participate in client meetings, provide regular operational updates, address client queries, and proactively manage expectations regarding vessel activities
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all vessel and port operations comply with international maritime regulations (e.g., ISM, ISPS), company policies, and client-specific safety requirements

Job requirements

  • Willingness to operate out of the port site in New London, CT
  • Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Extensive experience in marine operations, with at least 3-5 years in a similar onshore vessel management, port operations, or project coordination role
  • Strong track record of successful client interface and stakeholder management
  • Former seafaring experience as a Master Mariner or First Officer is highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Solid understanding of maritime regulations, ISM Code, ISPS Code, and offshore safety standards
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
