Job description
Our client is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Defense and Security Manager to join a major offshore wind construction project in collaboration with Polish energy utility PGE. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Defense & Security Team, responsible for ensuring compliance with Polish Armed Forces, Border Guard, and national security requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a pioneering initiative that sets new standards for offshore wind power to coexist with national defense infrastructure and operate securely within a hybrid threat environment.
Key Objectives

Secure acceptance and agreement with Polish Defense and Border Guard authorities to enable construction and operation of the offshore wind asset.

Lead implementation of technical solutions that meet defense and security compliance requirements.

Support the handover to operations and ensure the operations team is prepared and trained to maintain ongoing compliance.

Manage all project delivery elements within the defense scope, including time, cost, scope/quality, risk, safety, and team resources.

Contribute to broader security efforts as required.
Key Responsibilities

Support the development and conclusion of agreements with Polish Defense and Border Guard that fulfill mitigation and compliance obligations.

Manage engineering, procurement, and construction activities related to the defense scope.

Ensure seamless integration of defense and security solutions with other project work packages.

Develop service and maintenance plans for the defense scope, including training of site teams for ongoing compliance.

Lead or support efforts to identify and manage compliance requirements across information, cyber/IT/OT, and physical security for critical infrastructure.

Assist in developing solutions for offshore physical security needs in collaboration with stakeholders across the project and our client’s broader organization.

Support our client’s Strategic Environment, Permitting & Defense team in shaping market conditions to improve coexistence between offshore wind energy and national defense requirements.
Decision-Making Authority

Act as a key contributor to the Defense & Security management team for construction and development activities.

Represent the project in stakeholder dialogue to achieve goals within the mandate provided by Defense & Security Management.

Negotiate and manage contracts within the defense scope, including variation orders and claims, in accordance with the project's Authorization Matrix.

Recommend procurement strategies and select best tenders for implementation.
Qualifications & Expectations

Experience managing complex infrastructure or defense-related projects with senior stakeholder engagement.

In-depth understanding of national security regulations, particularly in relation to critical infrastructure.

Knowledge of Polish regulatory and defense environments is an advantage.

Strong ability to collaborate in a joint venture setting with multiple stakeholders.

Flexibility to travel regularly to Warsaw and work on-site in Gentofte as needed.
Job requirements

- Have proven experience in project management
- Possess a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering high-quality results.
- Have proficiency in risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Have a military officer background, preferred Navy or equivalent experience.
- Practical requirements
- On-site requirement: 2-3 days/week at the Gentofte office
- Travel to Warsaw to be expected up to 4 days per month
