Job description
Compliance with Environmental Regulations:
- Ensure the bubble curtain system complies with all relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permits (e.g., regulations related to noise mitigation under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other local and international standards).
- Work with environmental and regulatory teams to address any issues related to bubble curtain operation or noise impact on protected species.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Ensure that the equipment used for the bubble curtain, such as compressors, air pipes, and diffusers, is maintained and functioning properly.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting to prevent system failure and ensure continuous noise mitigation.
Job requirements
Required Qualifications:- Education:
- A degree in marine science, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Certification or training in underwater noise mitigation methods, including bubble curtain systems, is preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with bubble curtain systems or underwater noise mitigation techniques, particularly in offshore construction or renewable energy projects.
- Experience in offshore environments, especially with noise monitoring and mitigation technologies, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with construction and environmental monitoring activities in offshore wind projects is an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of bubble curtain technology, including the mechanics of air compressors, diffusers, and air distribution systems.
- Proficiency in using underwater noise monitoring equipment and software to measure and analyze noise levels.
- Understanding of marine ecosystems and potential impacts of underwater noise on marine species.
Certifications:
- GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) – Required for working in the wind industry. It includes training in areas like fire awareness, manual handling, working at heights, and sea survival.
- HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) – For personnel working on offshore wind farms or offshore platforms, this training ensures the ability to safely evacuate a helicopter in case of an emergency landing in water.
- CST (Confined Space Training) – This certification is required for individuals working in confined spaces, such as those in turbine maintenance or underground facilities, ensuring safety during noise monitoring and mitigation activities in restricted environments.
- Medical – A valid medical certification is often required for offshore or safety-sensitive roles, ensuring the individual is physically fit for the challenging and potentially hazardous work environment.
