WindEurope Offshore: Great meeting place for wind industry professionals

4 December 2019

From 26 till 28 November, Atlas Professionals exhibited at the WindEurope Offshore Exhibition and Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. With over 9,000 visitors and 430 exhibitors, it was Europe’s premier event in offshore wind.

The meeting place for offshore wind

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Our Energy, Our Future’. Europe needs unprecedented amounts of offshore wind to decarbonize its energy mix. Last week’s event in Copenhagen was the meeting place to discuss how offshore wind will help Europe go carbon neutral.

Poster session

During WindEurope Atlas Professionals’ colleague Joost Pellis, Strategic Manager Renewables, presented his vision on ‘The Wind of Change from a Human Capital Perspective’. The sector will need more personnel in the years ahead. In the poster abstract he presented how we can bridge the gap on short-term notice and in the long-term. Is re-skilling workers from the Oil & Gas industry the solution?

Celebrating our Boston office

On Wednesday 27 November we hosted a largely attended networking reception at our stand to celebrate the opening of our Boston office in the USA. With this move, Atlas is laying down the foundations to excel in the US Renewables sector.

Signing AYOP membership

Atlas Professionals has officially confirmed its membership of Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports during the WindEurope Offshore exhibition in Copenhagen. “This step is in line with our strategy to make the most of our ability to share and leverage on our experience in on- and offshore wind,” says Joost Pellis, Strategic Manager Renewables & Marine at Atlas. Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports now has 79 members in the North Sea Canal region, focused on the offshore extraction of gas & oil and wind energy.

Quiz winner

At our stand we challenged the visitors to join a Renewables quiz. We tested their knowledge in twelve questions about the offshore wind industry. Finally, Henrik Ekkert Sabra, International Renewable Energy Spearhead and Associate Director at Wood Thilsted Partners was the one with the highest score and won the LEGO Vestas Wind Turbine. Congrats and good luck with building the wind turbine during your teams’ Christmas party.

WindEurope gave us the opportunity to catch up with suppliers, clients, professionals and students in the wind industry: Together we can achieve a carbon neutral Europe!
