In the offshore energy industry, the Greenhand Programme is fast becoming known as a launchpad for those wanting to dive into a career offshore and as the solution the industry needs, to address a critical shortage of qualified professionals in the market. But according to former Greenhand Programme participants, Gareth Clark and Joshua Judd, it’s a lot more than that.
For these two Greenhands, the course was the catalyst for the personal and professional growth they needed.
Gareth, aged 33, from Middlesbrough, attended one of Atlas Professionals ‘New Entrants Days’ at our training provider, 3T Newcastle. Gareth found it to be “massively informative and delivered in a very methodical and deliberate way.”
Gareth was energised by the passion and dedication of the Atlas team. “I think it’s brilliant that both Liam and Mark seem to be so passionate about this,” Gareth shared. The programme's focus on raising standards struck a chord with his desire to drive efficiency in the field.
Joshua, aged 31, from Hull, already well-versed in offshore certifications, was equally impressed. Despite his prior knowledge, Joshua valued the programme’s emphasis on safety and clear communication, noting that it provided a sense of reassurance and direction.
He said: “I found it a great experience with people with real life experience in the field, and an obvious passion for helping new blood enter the industry. I loved the clear focus on the matter of safety and how important this is in all aspects of the field.
“However, had I not had those qualifications, I wouldn’t have felt reassured and comfortable about the avenues I could take as an individual and what I could expect.
“Atlas Professionals also made it very clear how they would try to get you out into the field, and the communication from people like Liam and Mark was very clear and concise.
“Overall, I would say it was a very worthwhile day, and I am so happy I attended. I already had some options on the table, but you can never have enough connections, and this helped me build some relationships that could help me or someone I know in the future. A big thank you to the team at Atlas and everyone involved in the Greenhand Programme.”
