ENSCO DPS-1|Broome Indigenous Trainee & Cadet Partnership Program

Broome local Aboriginal Bardi man and member of the Djugaragyn Community, Trainee Integrated Rating Shannon Sibosado currently offshore on board ENSCO DPS-1
The DPS-1 is an ultra deepwater self-propelled semi-submersible drilling rig that runs on approximately 30,000kw of power, is capable of operating in water depths greater than 3,000m and drilling to a depth of more than 12,000m. ENSCO DPS-1 is currently working on the Greater Enfield Development for Woodside and located 50kms north-northwest of Exmouth, Western Australia.

Shannon’s duties on board the rig 

  • Assisting in maintaining lifesaving, firefighting, pollution prevention and other safety systems and transferring drilling products to/from supply vessels
  • Participating in weekly safety meetings, pre tour, pre task meetings and emergency drills, and assists Deck IR during weekly maintenance of Lifeboats
  • Actively participating in Ensco’s safety systems including Hand Safety, STOP Drops and client safety engagement observations
  • Working in the engine room and on deck during this swing completing many tasks from his Certificate III – Integrated Rating Tag book
