Quitting is not an option

We have more than three months to go, but to ensure that we can really mean something for the Dutch Cancer Society we hereby would like to inform you about the ways in which you can encourage our Atlas Services Group teams. Let’s cooperate and make sure the teams can cycle or run up the Alpe d’Huez and raise as much funds as possible for cancer research.

Alpe d’HuZes
In 2012 Atlas Services Group made its debut at Alpe d’HuZes. A team of eight members, amongst them several directors, cycled up the Alpe d’Huez a total number of 18 times and collected more than 35,000 Euros for the Dutch Cancer Society. “It was touching to feel the solidarity of this event. There was only one main goal for all participants: cycling or running up the Alpe d’Huez as many times as possible. Quitting was not an option”, says Dirk-Jan van Leeuwen, director of Atlas Services Group Marine. The achievement in 2012 motivated all the team members to subscribe again for the eight edition of this event in June 2013. In addition, a second team has been formed for this year. “I am very grateful that I could contribute last year and even more grateful to attend again this year”, continues Van Leeuwen.

Challenge
With a length of 13.8 km, an average slope of 7.9% and 1061 altimeters, many hours of extensive training is needed for this huge challenge. However, this didn’t stop four more colleagues of Atlas Services Group from signing up as well in order to collect money. Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Almost everybody knows someone who has fought or is fighting against this disease. “With the help of medicine and research, more and more people will survive cancer. That’s the most important reason for me to participate. Research on cancer is crucial and for that, money is needed”, says Paul Steeghs, Manager Atlas Services Group Marine.

Encourage the teams
