Atlas’ Business Development Manager meets with RenewableUK

26 September 2016

New CEO for RenewableUK

A quarter of all electricity generated in the UK comes from renewable sources – half of it from onshore and offshore wind. It is one of Britain’s most extraordinary success stories in recent years, and that success is set to continue in the years ahead as other technologies including wave and tidal power start to reach commercial maturity. RenewableUK is the UK’s leading non-profit renewable energy trade association. Earlier this year, former Director of Change at DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Change) Hugh McNeal, was appointed CEO of the organisation. He has already met a wide variety of valued professionals working in the sector, including Atlas’ Business Development Manager for offshore wind John Morse, an experienced professional in the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors.

Hitting our Green Targets

With over 40 years of experience in Commercial and Operations Management, Business Development, Sales and Marketing in the offshore industry, John used his experience to discuss offshore pre-consenting survey work and HSE issues within the industry and the best way to move forward and achieve the country’s green targets for the future.

Helping Oil & Gas Personnel

With the oil & gas industry not looking to pick up until the end of 2017, the industry, as well as Atlas, has dealt with more oil & gas personnel transferring into the renewable energy market. With this in mind RenewableUK are looking to encourage experienced oil & gas personnel to make the transition into the wind energy sector. Universities and technical colleges have a key role to play in improving the skills of future workers. As a Director of Norfolk UTC (University Technical College), John’s experience in the education sector helps Atlas to continue to support this transition process.

As a member of RenewableUK, Atlas are proud to be working with this organisation, helping to shape the wind energy market in the UK.
