Atlas Supplies Workforce to the World’s Largest Wind Farm

11 March 2016

As the market leader in renewable energy, DONG Energy has recently announced that it has begun onshore preparations for the world’s largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project One.

The Hornsea Zone

Last year, DONG Energy acquired full ownership of Hornsea Project One; the 1.2 gigawatt windfarm has now moved into its construction phase. DONG Energy also acquired development rights for the remainder of the Hornsea zone which will see projects two, three and four forming an important part of the business’s post-2020 pipeline.

Supplying to 1M UK Homes

With 174 wind turbines, the Hornsea Project One wind farm will be capable of supplying electricity to more than 1 million UK homes by 2020. On completion, it will also become the world’s first gigawatt scale wind farm.

Five Year Framework

In 2014, Atlas signed a five year framework agreement with DONG to supply temporary personnel for all of DONG’s offshore wind farm projects based in the UK.

“It’s great to be able to support DONG with such an exciting project that will provide fantastic employment opportunities for the Hornsea area. Atlas will be working hard to provide as many local professionals to the project as possible and would welcome local applicants to contact us,” says Laura Smith, Offshore Wind Business Manager.
