From 1st – 4th June, Geomotive and South West Surveys (SWS) attended the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) event in Madrid. EAGE is the largest geosciences event in the industry.
The offices had a successful event and were able to discuss the latest developments in seismic, environmental and the electromagnetic industries. EAGE was celebrating its 77th year and attracted 5,500 industry leaders and energy professionals from around the world.
Visitors were able to explore state-of-the-art technologies and learn about a new range of services within the geosciences industry. Besides the exhibition, a conference was held which discussed ‘Earth Science for Energy and the Environment’.
Agnieszka Kuzniar, Elfyn Lloyd and Neil Grosse from the Geomotive office in Vic, Spain, were present to discuss new opportunities in marine geophysical surveys. “It has been a tough year for the seismic industry; cost cutting and reorganisation has been re-occurring throughout 2015,” says Neil Grosse Director of Geomotive. “However, during the EAGE exhibition there was a consensus of optimism for 2016. The industry has these periodic downturns but always bounces back stronger.”
Craig Johnston and Damian Francis from the SWS office in Exeter, UK, were present at the EAGE exhibition to answer questions about QC consultancy services in land and marine exploration seismic projects. “It was clear from the event that the dramatic drop in oil prices this year is having a considerable effect on the exploration industry,” says Damian Francis, Managing Director of SWS. “However it was good to be present at EAGE and hear the latest industry developments and strengthen relationships with clients and consultants.”
Overall, the event was a success and allowed for both of the offices to discuss new opportunities for personnel in the environmental and electromagnetic industries.
