Atlas opens office in Singapore

From September 2010, Atlas has opened an office in Singapore. The office is situated in the centre of the main business district from Singapore, on 5 Shenton Way and will trade under the name Atlas Services Group Singapore PTE LTD. International Crew Services Singapore is directly linked under this name. During the start-up phase there will be two persons based in Singapore.

Main tasks

There are two main tasks for Atlas Singapore. One is the Ship Delivery and the second one is International Crew Services. Ship Delivery has already a department in Rotterdam, but as most new building vessels are coming from the Far East region, the choice was made to start also from Singapore. A lot of ship owners and brokers are based in Singapore region and now the contacts can be more directly. Also due to the time difference with the Rotterdam office, it is not always convenient to deal with clients in the Far East.

Richard Leistra

Captain Richard Leistra is the area manager of Singapore. In the past few years he was on a regular basis involved with new build vessels from shipyards in Singapore and Far East region. With the experience he has gained over the years and together with the knowhow from the Rotterdam office, he is able to give a very good service to the clients. Also offshore installation operations will be of his interest.

Indonesia

International Crew Services is based in Capelle a/d IJssel and is closely linked to Atlas, the Netherlands. As they have their own agency in Indonesia, they see that many of the clients are based in Singapore region. To improve this contacts, the office in Singapore is a strategic choice.

Crew training

"Clients want to be sure they get the correct crew on board. It is only a short trip to Indonesia to do crew selection and make sure the crew will be properly qualified. Another thing we are going to add to our service is the crew training. This can be performed on board of a vessel or with a simulator. In this way ship owners can expect an even better service.”, says captain Richard Leistra.
