Job description

  • Ensuring that all marine aspects of the rigs operations are carried out in accordance with statutory and regulatory controls and guidelines. 

  • Supervising the operation of the marine department to ensure safe and efficient running of the rig. 

  • Monitoring the weather conditions and rig motions and informing OIM of conditions that are likely to affect drilling operations and seaworthiness of the rig. 

  • Ensuring that accurate calculation of load distribution and weights for daily stability reports and lightship are maintained. 

  • Co-coordinating all helicopter and supply boats traffic, supervising movement of materials and personnel to and from the rig. 

  • Ensuring all navigation equipment is properly maintained and ready for use at all times. 

  • Monitoring quantities of expendables such as fuel, potable water and drill water etc. 

  • Ensuring that cranes are in safe working condition, ensuring all safety equipment, including lifeboats and fire-fighting equipment, is maintained in a state of operational readiness at all times.  

  • Actively participating in the daily operations meeting with the OIM and other rig department heads, operating and maintaining the bulk system as required. 

Job requirements

Mandatory Certificates: Survival, MIST, Medical, Shoulders & Barge License
