We are searching for a Senior Safety Consultant to work for our client either in a long term contract role, or permanent role. This will be within a client in the Aberdeen Upstream Technical Safety team, focused on the delivery of offshore consequence and risk assessments, reliability, rbi, ALARP justification, and risk-based decision support. The candidate should have a proven track record in the delivery to join an industry-leading technical safety consultancy at the cutting edge of risk analysis techniques.

This a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is a trusted advisor to the industry, working closely with customers focusing on delivery and innovation. The role of the Senior Safety Consultant will be based in Aberdeen with flexible options considered, but there may also be a requirement to travel in the UK and occasionally overseas for client-related work. The Senior Safety Consultant will report to a Head of Section and will have responsibility for project management and technical delivery of project work under the guidance of more senior members of the department and technical leadership of more junior consultants. The role includes interaction with customers and colleagues across the business to collaborate on technical problems and develop solutions. Development support will be available to enhance technical knowledge, project management and sales skills, through on the job training and mentoring.
Key Accountabilities:
- With the guidance of experienced personnel as appropriate, develop and deliver technical solutions to customer issues through the use of consequence modeling, frequency, reliability, and risk analysis of offshore major accident hazards.
- Project manage and work on multiple projects to the satisfaction of the Manager/Project Sponsor (i.e. within the required timeframe, cost,and quality standards).
- Apply consequence and risk assessment tools and techniques as appropriate (e.g. QRA, consequence Crib Notes .doc)
- Lead and support the production of technical reports for customers, where possible identifying further business opportunities for CLIENT.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders; support efforts to win external work and manage bids on new projects.
- Actively seek to improve delivery processes through innovation and incremental improvement.
- Develop experience and expertise across project and team activities; provide professional support and guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Take personal responsibility for self-development. In conjunction with the line manager, prepare a development plan that reflects agreed areas of required personal/technical development.
- Operate within formal QA standards and project procedures.
- Work within the guidelines of agreed Health and Safety requirements for the business.
- Carry out other reasonable duties/tasks as required, to deliver and meet the objectives of the Safety & Integrity business.

Technical / Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or other relevant STEM degree (minimum 2:1), with at least 7 years of relevant industrial experience.
- Experienced user of consequence and risk analysis software, and proven ability to tackle a variety of projects.
- Ability to delegate more routine aspects of work.
- Strong MS Excel skills. Programming desirable.
- Excellent verbal communication skills including with external customers.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Willing to operate and excel in a “Doer–Seller” model.
- Takes ownership of project management, showing initiative and taking responsibility in driving teamwork (e.g. driving others) to completion at the required quality within the agreed schedule and budget.
- Develops proposals and contribute to more complex bids.
