- To participate in the practical maintenance and calibration of various items of equipment under the control of the department;
- To carry out watchkeeping duties in Cable Working areas and Operations Control room as required.
- To test stock cable as required;
- To assist with clerical and administrative duties of the department, e.g. typing of Cable Engineer department returns;
- To assist with compilation of data and records;
- To undertake the control of stocks and spares;
- To work outside normal departmental areas as directed by the Chief Cable Engineer;
- To be familiar with his duties in an emergency situation and must be aware of, and abide by Company procedures, policies, work permits and instructions, particularly in respect of the Code of Safe Working Practices, Company safety policy and environmental policy;
- To assist with the surveyor works and the relevant departments for survey requirements;
- To carry out the designated research and development works in R&D department as required;
- To perform the 2CE’s job duties when there is no 2CE onboard ship.
- Hold qualification certificates as required by STCW 78/95;
- CBSP;
- THUET Opito;
- Advanced English.
Job description
