A few weeks ago during Ocean Business – the biennial ocean technology exhibition in Southampton, UK – Atlas Professionals highlighted the importance of demonstrating competency within the offshore survey industry. During the exhibition and associated conference, we held a lecture and workshop on the principles of inshore survey and important considerations regarding safety. Visitors were also invited to complete a 'competency quiz', with the winner receiving an EIVA course of his or her choice.
Winner of the EIVA training course
Philip Long, Data Processor at Boskalis, won the all-inclusive training course. “Within our industry you are only as good as your last job. This means it’s really important to keep your knowledge up to date, for example by investing in an EIVA training course”, states Philip Long. “I appreciate the efforts of Atlas Professionals in trying to address the importance of competency recording within our industry and the need to invest in their people. Apart from the prize, I am very happy with Atlas as an agency. I value their way of dealing with things, from finding great assignments to accurate payments and being the serious partner that I can ask for help if I encounter any issues”, said Philip Long.
Official trainings partner
Andrew Blears, Director of Atlas Professionals Newquay, says: “Recording a person's skills, knowledge and ability is vital in today's industry. One of the things we created so that we could address the importance of competency recording was the ‘competence quiz’. Visitors were invited to complete it to assess their understanding of the requirements within the industry. It’s both EIVA’s and our pleasure to offer Philip Long an all-inclusive EIVA training course”. EIVA CEO Jeppe Nielsen continues: “Offering professionals the possibility of trying their hands with the software tools we provide to the industry is an obvious undertaking and, in our view, necessary. Experienced candidates are in high demand, and we are happy to see that Atlas is addressing this subject”.
