Seismic freelancer Richard Keast in West Africa

9 November 2010

“I started my offshore career in the seismic industry in West Africa, after graduating from Plymouth University in 1997”, Richard Keast tells us. “I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to start freelancing for BritSurvey through Seistech in September 1999. At the time I was expecting this to be a temporary arrangement, but after a year of working for BritSurvey I was deployed to a number of different projects and clients. I have been working for Seistech for almost ten years now and I expect plenty of challenging assignments for Atlas Seistech freelancers following the takeover by Atlas in the second quarter of 2008.”

“The Atlas Services Group have operated in the offshore industry for over than 25 years and has built a network of nine branch offices worldwide. As a result opportunities within Atlas Seistech have never been better for freelancers. With the Atlas Services Group’s support and worldwide contacts added to Seistech’s professional work ethics, the company has the potential to become a leading supplier of professional and competent personnel for the industry.”

Commitment

“Recently, Atlas Seistech has started organising in-house training for their regular personnel. At the beginning of January 2009, a QPS Qinsy course was held in the Newquay office. The instructor was sourced from QPS in the Netherlands and the two-day course was attended by a total of ten freelance Atlas Seistech personnel. I attended the course too and was impressed by the instructor’s knowledge and his relaxed presentation. Atlas Seistech is planning to organise more software courses in 2009, demonstrating their commitment in investing in their personnel.

Challenging

“The contracts I have been offered in my time with Seistech –and now Atlas Services Group – have always been varied and challenging. Support from the company has always been available 24 hours a day, and I have always found the staff to be professional and competent. Atlas Seistech’s commitment has been clearly demonstrated by their investment in new offices in Newquay, the organisation of software courses and the general attitude of consultants and staff. All of this should be reflected in the 2009 results.”
