Atlas Professionals’ Riga team attended a simulation team training to get up, close and personal with some of the real-life challenges professionals face at sea.

Our professionals brave many challenges at work each day to deliver their best while staying safe and compliant. To get an idea of the on-ground reality and have some quality team time, our Riga office decided to participate in a simulation training with Novikontas Training Centre.

The real deal

Wind, waves, thunderstorms and rain – it couldn’t get more natural. In a swimming pool that could replicate all the emergencies at sea, the Riga team had an immersive experience. With the simulation training at the newly built sea and survival theatre at Novikontas Training Centre  the team faced challenging situations and simulated tackling the extremes at the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Demo.

Lana Zemzane, Business Manager at Atlas’ Riga office, says, “We one such training in Tallinn some years ago, these experiences are good for us to stay aware about the on-ground realities and a great teambuilding exercise. This training was especially difficult because we had to jump into the water from a height of 4.2 metres, unbuckle our seatbelts and get out of the helicopter. They had simplified it a bit for us, but the actual simulation is more difficult.”

Novikontas Training Centre in Riga offers modules for professionals and facilitates training. Some of their modules include full and refreshers courses on SOLAS Basic Safety, Proficiency in survival craft, Fast rescue boat and GWO Sea Survival and BOSIET. They also have HUET training to be available soon.
