"We are involved in all kinds of ROV activities and other hydrographic surveying, both on open sea and in coastal waters. Apart from some smaller craft, we operate two very well-equipped ships to carry out these activities", Magnus Thorsteinsson, of Neptune, tells us. Neptune - located in Akureyri in Iceland - has recently joined Atlas Seistech's clients. "Our company is the only one in this field in the whole of Iceland. The ships are registered under Icelandic flag and are modern vessels in all respects, since they have both been given a major overhaul over the past year."
Neptune was launched last year, but director Magnus Thorsteinsson has had many years of varied experience in the corporate world: he has been involved in the launch and management of one of Russia's largest breweries but has also had positions in the financial world. His last job before this new challenge was in the shipping and transport industry.
The perfect compliment
"Our intention is to establish gradual growth and to expand our range of services and the fleet accordingly. The objective is to create a professional, safe and efficient company, in so far as we haven't already achieved that. Atlas' services are the perfect complement to ours. I first met them at a trade fair, but before that I had heard the name mentioned. Whenever we have consulted Atlas in our search for personnel, they have been alert and proactive. And every time their response was fast and efficient; my compliments on that! If they continue to do business in the same way, I have no doubt I will be dealing with them again. Andrew Blears, in particular, deserves a mention because of his personal commitment. Everything would be a lot harder without that."
