Tell us about your job at Atlas Professionals?
I currently work in the Finance team as the first point of contact for Accounts Payable. It’s my job to process all of our incoming supplier invoices and ensure they get paid in an organised and timely manner.
What's the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job would have to be the feeling that I’m constantly learning new things. Whether it be finance procedures or what goes into the everyday functioning of a marine vessel or an oil rig. There’s always something new and interesting to learn.
What do you do to relax?
Anyone who knows me knows that when I’m not at work, the most likely place to find me is at home with a PlayStation controller in my hands. I’ve dabbled in many hobbies over the years, but my love of gaming has always been the one that has outlasted all others.
If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why?
Japan, for sure. From its rich history and culture to the beautiful cherry blossom trees, Japan is at the top of my travel bucket list. I’m actually hoping to travel to Japan in the next couple of years and at the top of my itinerary would have to be Harajuku, Akihabara, the Studio Ghibli Museum and the Nara Deer Park, just to name a few.
How long have you worked at Atlas Professionals?
I joined Atlas, then still known as Programmed Marine, back in September of 2017. I was originally hired as a Receptionist, which got off to a bit of a rocky start as I also came down with the flu in my first week of work and had to take time off to recover. Soon after, I would also sprain my foot coming down the hill from the bus stop in the morning! Thankfully, that didn’t stop me from coming to work and that was the last of my bad luck. A few months into the job, I was offered the opportunity to move into the back office and assist the Payroll team with some data entry and processing the crew expense claims. I jumped at the chance to expand my knowledge and gain more experience in a more varied admin role. While working with Payroll, I would also assist other departments with various jobs and help out wherever an extra pair of hands was needed. After many months in this role, I would eventually be asked to move into the Accounts team and assist with Accounts Payable. And the rest, as they say, is history. I have only quite recently passed my second year with the company and I hope to remain for many more.
