Specialist recruiter Atlas Professionals is opening a new office across the pond in the “Energy Capital of the World”, Houston Texas. The move is in line with the company’s goal to create a presence in North America and become a local point of contact for Atlas’ existing clients and professionals. Atlas Business Manager Laura Smith will be taking on the exciting challenge of managing a new specialist team who will focus on expanding their services into new markets in the region.
A new challenge for Atlas
“The plans for Houston have been an idea of Atlas for a long time,” explains Laura. “The idea of taking on something new, developing a new team, with our experience as market leaders, in a new country, was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. It will be a great adventure both personally and professionally.”
Initially, the team will focus on Atlas’ specialist markets including Drilling & Well Services, Engineering & Project Controls and special competencies such as Offshore Survey, Management & QC and Seismic. Once established, the team aims to break into offshore wind, a developing market on the east coast. “Whilst Europe leads the way in the production of offshore wind, the United States is only just beginning to invest in large scale offshore wind energy projects. Whilst long term it will be vital to engage, train and invest in local US professionals, the short term provides opportunities for European professionals to share their knowledge and experience with a wealth of companies in the US supply chain.”
Understanding our clients’ needs in Houston
Recently, Laura travelled to Houston to meet Atlas’ clients face to face. “Meeting with our clients gave Atlas the chance to understand their needs and experiences as well as their requirements for forthcoming projects. It would be naïve of us to say that we cannot improve our services, we can always improve. In the current market, cost efficiency and compliance are key drivers, and if we can wrap that in a professional service then we can offer a winning formula.
All our clients have offered their overwhelming support to our move to Houston and look forward to working with us in the region. We will also be meeting with both clients and professionals when we exhibit at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in May.
