This week, Atlas Professionals Geophysicists took part in a three-day training course on Geosoft’s Oasis montaj and UXO Marine software. The course aimed to increase the productivity of its users and to introduce the latest updates in Geosoft’s UXO technology.
Geosoft’s foundations
In 1986, Canadian earth scientists Ian MacLeod and Colin Reeves saw the potential of using a microcomputer for exploration geophysics. Their discovery led them to establish Geosoft, a world leader in delivering geoscience technology solutions, across desktop, server and internet platforms.
UXO Marine Agenda
Atlas Geos learnt how to use new software capabilities for magnetic data preparation and processing, applying a single mag data workflow and gradient data workflow, working with gradient data in profile and grid form, and calculating target parameters.
Training days such as these are a fantastic opportunity for both Atlas and its Professionals; allowing the teams to get to know their professionals personally and for our personnel to keep up-to-date with the technological demands of the industry.
Helping Professionals reach their goals
"We have seen an increasing demand for Geophysicists who have specific software experience due to the developing sector for UXO detection in combination with offshore cable route surveys for the telecoms and renewable markets,” says Atlas’ UK Director Andrew Blears. “As such we wanted to invest in this area. Helping people gain the relevant software training and associated experience is vital in meeting demand and assisting people reach their goals. It’s fantastic to get the extra opportunity to meet the professionals, and even better to help them get their next job. Immediately after the training, we arranged for one of the delegates to have an interview and he starts his next assignment, using Oasis montaj, after only a couple of days!”
Additional Dates
Due to the success of our training courses and their ongoing client demand, the Offshore Survey team are looking to organise another course later this summer (2016). For more information about course dates, please contact Atlas’ Personnel Coordinator Vicki Stavrou: vstavrou@atlasprofessionals.com.
