Through the successful execution of the Çanakkale 2 Project, Atlas Professionals has begun to assign ROV personnel to the next stage of operations. Atlas’ personnel will take part in the project until its closure at the end of 2016.
The Çanakkale 2 Project
In 2014, Prysmian Group, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, was awarded a contract to design, supply, install and commission the second submarine power cable link across the Dardanelles strait in Turkey.
This second link that Prysmian is currently executing will complete Turkey’s power transmission grid and will ensure vital power supply from Asian generation sites to the European centres. The circuit will include the country’s populated areas such as Istanbul and will finish around the Marmara Sea.
Working on the Cable Enterprise
Atlas’ ROV, Diving & Inspection office based in Banbury has started to recruit ROV Technicians & Supervisors to work on Prysmian’s newly upgraded vessel the Cable Enterprise.
Atlas’ Relationship with Prysmian
“Our relationship with Prysmian began three years ago when they purchased the Cable Enterprise cable lay barge,” explains ROV Business Manager Rob Pattenden. “We have supplied a variety of subsea and cable lay professionals throughout that time and have developed our relationship to become established as a reliable supplier to Prysmian.
We are excited for our business line to be included in the Çanakkale 2 Project as we continue to work closely with Prysmian to supply subsea professionals.
This project, along with others, allows Atlas Professionals to provide our contractors long term stability in a challenging market.
This is just one example of a variety of power cable lay projects that Atlas anticipate working on in what could prove to be an exciting 2016 in the subsea power cable market.”
