“Team Atlas”, which was made up of UK staff and their family members, participated in the Cornish Dragon Boat Challenge 2011 on Sunday 24th July, raising close to £400.00 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
After a quick safety briefing, our sixteen strong team (and very important drummer) were given paddles and a 40ft canoe and were sent out into the waters of Falmouth harbor to compete in timed sprint races against other teams.
Team Atlas raced in three qualifying races and amazingly made the semi-final by clocking up the fourth fastest time in the heats. Unfortunately we were narrowly beaten in the semi-finals, but it was a great experience and one that we hope to take part in again in 2012!
