Van Oord, a Dutch contracting company that specialises in dredging and land reclamation, recently deployed its first dredging vessels to the New Suez Canal project.
At the moment, they have three vessels in operation, two stationary cutter suction dredgers and the large self-propelled cutter suction dredger, Artemis.
This fleet will gradually be expanded with additional two dredging vessels.
Van Oord’s fleet is part of a total of 20 vessels that will be operated by a consortium consisting of Van Oord, Boskalis, National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) and Jan de Nul.
This international consortium is one of the two contractors for the New Suez Canal dredging scheme, launched by the Suez Canal Authority in August last year.
