Atlas Professional Kevin Reddy
Why this position, and why this industry?
“I have been fortunate to combine all the things I love most into one job. I enjoy being at sea and I am driven to learn about and use cutting-edge technology available only in this niche market. Advances in technology never stop. What’s new today will be old tomorrow and what keeps me going is trying to stay on top of these exciting new developments.”
How would you describe your job?
“I love my job. Every project is different and unique. The general idea behind each task is the same, but the plans, procedures and processes are different for each company. It’s always interesting to see the same job done in many different ways. I always do my best to make a positive contribution by actively participating and bringing new ideas that are often well received.”
And the Offshore Survey & Construction industry?
“The offshore survey and construction industry is the best place to be right now if you are someone who loves technology. We are certainly pushing the boundaries in meeting deep water challenges. The success of AUVs and underwater acoustic systems in delivering extremely accurate data in the shortest possible time at depths of 2000 meters is certainly something to behold.”
Thinking of progressing your career?
“I would consider moving to the next level, which is Client Representative. I have been quite privileged to work on all levels from Offshore Engineer to Project Manager through Atlas, and I have found the experience valuable from both an operational and a commercial perspective. The team at Atlas are amazing and I hold all of them in the highest regard. They often consult with me about upcoming training and development courses, and we work closely together to select the roles that will help me gain the right experience to move on to the next level.”
What have the highlights been so far?
“I would say working in many different parts of the world with many different kinds of people–all with the same goal in mind. I feel especially privileged to have worked in many of the world’s largest oil and energy fields, to have contributed to making history in some parts and to have made lots of friends in the process.”
