AB/Crane Operator

Our client is seeking crane operators to join the crew of their offshore wind installation vessel. Candidates must be US citizens or green card holders. Prior offshore experience is highly desired along with experience operating Huisman cranes with high lifting capacities.

Job description

• Liaise with other vessel crew, clients and third parties to ensure that at all time crane operations or maintenance works are coordinated in a safe and efficient manner.
• Responsible for using relevant information and instructions to safely and accurately move loads using the vessels cranes.
• Ensure the correct slinging technique has been chosen appropriate to the characteristics of the load and the intended lift.
• Identify difficulties in slinging and moving loads and clarify them with the appropriate person(s).
• In conjunction with the Deck Foreman and Deck Operators ensure that the correct slinging equipment is selected and confirm its suitability for the load(s) to be lifted.
• In conjunction with the Deck Foreman and Deck Operators ensure the suitability of load(s) to be lifted and that all potential hazards with the lifting operation have been identified.
• Report defects and faults with lifting, deck and or slinging equipment, to Deck Foreman.
• Accurately identify the load to be moved, its location and destination from relevant information and instructions.
• Confirm that the support and balance of the slung load is satisfactory, and that it is secured prior to movement.
• Ensure that all vessel equipment is in a condition complying with the applicable regulations.

Job requirements

• Must hold US citizenship or green card status
• Must have prior offshore crane operating experience - experience with Huisman cranes is highly desired
• Must be willing to obtain necessary certifications to work offshore
