Our client is looking for a First Assistant Engineer to join the crew of their offshore wind installation vessel. This position is only open to US nationals.

Job description

  • Responsible for the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the vessels mechanical, electrical and utility services.
  • Ensure that all planned and any breakdown maintenance is organized and carried out on all hull, mechanical, electrical and utility services onboard the vessel.
  • Liaise with the Chief Engineer to ensure that engineering assistance is available to maintain the vessels lifesaving appliances.
  • Ensure that the planned maintenance system is accurately populated, maintenance routines are carried out and the correct information is accurate input into the system.
  • Report to the Chief Engineer on spare parts used.
  • Fully understand when mechanical, electrical and utility works can be and should be carried out in a safe and sensible manner.
  • Liaise with the Chief Engineer and other vessel crew to ensure that at all time maintenance works are coordinated under the instruction of the Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain essential services in the case of a vessel emergency.
  • Ensure that proper records and logs are kept as required by legislation, classification authorities and internal procedures.
  • Ensure that all vessel equipment is in a condition complying with the applicable regulations.
  • Provide technical and operational advice to other Seajacks departments regarding the mechanical and electrical capabilities of the vessels.
  • Provide operational support and advice to clients, third parties and other Seajacks departments regarding the technical capabilities of the vessel.
  • Ensure that testing, effective maintenance, replacements to systems and components are carried out with reference to manufacturers approved operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure that all client and third-party equipment meets vessel safety standards.
  • Assist with the development of operations and maintenance philosophies, strategies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the vessel permit to work system is operated in a diligent manner and that the methodology of the permit to work system is fully understood.
  • Cooperate and contribute to Toolbox Talks and Task Risk Assessments and ensure that these are carried out, wherever appropriate.
  • Assist in identifying, developing and sharing Best Practices across the vessels.
  • Have appropriate understanding of the vessels current Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Compile accurate and informative handover notes between shifts.

Job requirements

  • Must hold US citizenship
  • Must hold valid USCG 1st AE endorsement
  • Must be willing to obtain all offshore certifications needed for the project
