Atlas Professionals has an exciting in-house role for an experienced and enthusiastic Crewing Manager to manage the overall crewing matters and crew policies for a one of a kind, new-build vessel operating in US waters.

What does the day to day look like

As our Crewing Manager you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability of qualified and competent marine crew whilst maintaining compliance with US marine regulations and industry standards.

Your roles & responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining and developing strong external stakeholder relationships. 
  • Developing coaching and mentoring the training coordinator. 
  • Attracting, selecting, evaluating and developing marine candidates, while at the same time managing, developing and growing the marine candidate pool.  
  • Liaising with union halls to fill open positions when applicable.
  • Ensuring compliance with all USCG and STCW credentials of the marine crew.  
  • Managing and maintaining candidate documentation to be in line with local legislation and relevant authorities. 
  • Managing and leading employee relations processes (including disciplinary or grievance, performance management, employee engagement) working with relevant stakeholders and in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensuring regular crew changes are attended by a relevant Atlas representative. 
  • Monitoring and reporting of daily movement of vessel employees to relevant stakeholders. 
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries relating to payroll and invoicing obligations. 
  • Working with the client to agree, deliver and report on KPI’s.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with the crew, the unions, the client and any applicable stakeholders. The Crew Manager has the ability to manage multiple projects, while believing in and complying with the Atlas shared values. They also must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

In addition to this you will be required to have the following experience and skill sets:

  • Crew management fleet experience 
  • Extensive understanding of Maritime certification and credentials
  • Understanding of collective bargaining agreements (State specific)

Desirable:

  • Affiliation with offshore life
  • Previous experience working with unions
