Job description
The Technical Section Leader for Drilling Rigs is responsible for overseeing and managing the technical operations and maintenance of drilling rigs, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with operational standards. This leadership role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing resources, and ensuring uninterrupted rig performance to meet project objectives.Key Responsibilities:- Operational Oversight:
- Lead the technical operations of drilling rigs, including drilling equipment, power systems, and safety systems.
- Monitor daily rig performance and address technical challenges to minimize downtime.
- Ensure that all drilling operations align with the planned schedule and budget.
- Maintenance Management:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all rig equipment.
- Ensure timely repair and servicing of drilling machinery and support systems.
- Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and manage procurement for continuous operations.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety standards, environmental policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety drills and inspections to ensure the rig crew is prepared for emergencies.
- Review incident reports and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Leadership and Coordination:
- Supervise and mentor technical teams, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians.
- Coordinate with drilling engineers, rig managers, and external contractors for seamless operations.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and safety among the crew.
- Performance Optimization:
- Analyze technical data to identify opportunities for improving rig efficiency and performance.
- Recommend and implement upgrades or modifications to drilling equipment and processes.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate best practices into rig operations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and safety compliance.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to senior management.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits, certifications, and regulatory submissions.

- STCW A-VI/6-2 Security Duties
- Advanced fire fighting Cert STCW A-VI/3 (CACI)
- Confined Space Entry
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (Other than FRB) STCW (CESS)
