We are looking for a Drilling Superintendent who will be responsible for supervising the entire rig site operations team. This role is remote, with travel to the office/rig/vessel sites required as project needs arise.
Job description
Planning Phase:· Assist the well engineering group throughout the entire well design and construction process, providing engineering support and operational input as required.
· Assist with the tendering and award of all major contracts through preparation of SoW documents and technical analysis of bids received.
· Assist with the review of all offset well information.
· Act as main focal point between - and the drilling unit contractor.
· Responsible for ensuring that the drilling unit is fit-for-purpose and arrives at the well location “ready-to-drill”.
· Responsible for the Well Control Bridging Document.
· Assist with the preparation of time / cost estimates used to generate yearly budgets and well / project specific AFE’s.
· Actively participate in DWOP’s, TWOP’s and CWOPS’s and ensure that all data gathered is thoroughly reviewed and action items followed up on.
· Actively participate in any HAZID, HAZOP and Bow Tie Analysis (drilling and testing). Assist with preparation of final documentation.
· Ensure all relevant lessons learned from previous projects have been reviewed and any necessary action taken to prevent re-occurrence.
· Assist with the preparation and perform final review of the well Master Equipment List (MEL).
· Assist with the preparation and perform final review of the well Drilling Programme and Detailed Operations Plan. Ensure documents comply with company policy, relevant industry standards and local regulations.
· Develop operational KPI’s.
· Assist with the preparation and perform final review of the well P&A Programme.
· Assist with preparation and perform final review of the Blow Out Emergency Response Plan (BOERP).
· Assist with the preparation and perform final review of all required HSE and Logistics documentation (e.g. Emergency Response Plan, Oil Spill Response Plan, HSE Bridging Document, MEDEVAC Plan, Helicopter Boarding Procedure, Logistics Plan etc).
· Responsible for interviewing and approving all members of the offshore operations team.
· Responsible for ensuring all members of the offshore operations team have the required certification as per HSE and Well Control Bridging Documents.
· Review equipment QA/QC plan.
Execution Phase:
· Ultimately, act as the main onshore focal point for all operations at the well site and ensure all operations are executed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while complying with the drilling program, company policy and local regulations.
· Provide 24/7 technical support to the rig based operations team and manage all aspects of the operation itself.
· Ensure all operations are well planned in order to ensure seamless and efficient operations with minimal NPT.
· Ensure the Project Drilling Manager is kept well informed of operations.
· Continually encourage the use of safety systems and tools while also monitoring participation / usage (safety cards, TBT, JRA, TOF, weekly walk-around etc).
· Review daily safety card information.
· Lead all onshore service company meetings and rig conference calls.
· Review and approve (QAQC) the Daily Drilling Report, ensuring it is detailed and accurate prior to wider distribution.
· Ensure all required information from the drilling unit has been synced to the SPOTFIRE system on a daily basis.
· Ensure NPT log is maintained and accurate.
· Review and approve the Daily Lookahead while also ensuring that all logistical requirements stated in the document are delivered by the onshore team.
· Review and approve all Work Instructions prior to execution.
· Actively track operational performance against KPI’s through DDR’s and ProNova performance monitoring software. Ensure recommendations for improvements in operational performance are captured and communicated.
· Adopt the role of Duty Manager / Operations Section Chief as per the - Emergency Response Plan.
· Take a lead role in any accident / incident investigations.
· Assist with the preparation of any Management of Change (MoC) documents and actively participate in any required risk assessments.
· Review field tickets and invoices.
· Ensure all required QA/QC work is completed on equipment prior to being sent to the well site.
· Ensure all Non Productive Time is accurately captured in a high level of detail and any required supporting documentation is delivered in a timely manner.
· Ensure all lessons learned are accurately captured in a high level of detail for implementation on subsequent projects (continuous improvement).
Post Well Phase:
· Assist with completion of the End of Well Report (EOWR), ensuring that the document is accurate and highly detailed.
· Assist with the close out of all outstanding field tickets and invoices.
· Participate in all Service Quality Meetings (SQM’s) and provide technical input as required. Ensure service company performance has been accurately recorded and all required Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) have been submitted and approved.
· Work with logistics team to ensure all leftover materials are accurately documented and stored correctly.
General:
· Mentor and assist with the training and career development of other team members.
· Show an open mind with regards to new technologies and operational practices which could lead to increased operational efficiencies.
· Ensure costs are accurately tracked throughout the project life cycle using the - cost tracking system in SAP / OpenWells.
Job requirements
Education/Qualifications:· Degree qualified in Engineering.
· Valid Well Control certification (IWCF Level 4 Combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack or IADC WellSHARP Supervisor Level).
· Valid Offshore Survival certification (e.g. BOSIET or equivalent).
· Valid Medical certification.
· Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
· Strong understanding of the Landmark OpenWells reporting system.
· Basic understanding of the Landmark well engineering software suite.
· Excellent written and oral command of the English language.
· Basic understanding of the Spanish language is advantageous but not essential.
Experience & Knowledge:
· Minimum 12 years of industry experience.
· Candidate must have experience working offshore as a Drilling Supervisor (DSV).
· Candidate must have experience of working as a Drilling Engineer or Senior Drilling Engineer as they will be expected to be heavily involved in the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) work. The ability to work on both engineering and operations is essential.
· High level of experience working with Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU’s), particularly floating units, with a minimum of 5 years’ involvement with deepwater operations.
· Knowledge and previous experience with the - Well Construction Process highly advantageous.
· Knowledge and experience of executing remote location and start-up projects is essential.
· Knowledge and experience of Well Testing operations is essential.
· Knowledge and experience of High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) wells advantageous but not essential.
· Knowledge and experience of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations advantageous but not essential.
· Basic understanding of land drilling operations advantageous but not essential.
