Tell us about your job at Atlas Professionals

I am the Port Captain and currently the Country Representative for Atlas Professionals in Timor-Leste. I first started as a Port Captain, where I liaised for Atlas Professionals in Timor, to ensure all operations from shore to portside were well communicated. We were running 3 big projects and we used Timor-Leste as the first transhipment point for Australian oil and gas projects. Atlas Professionals and the Client decided to utilize Dili to supply the provisions and crew change for the tugs towing Prelude FLNG; all the tugs stopped in Dili.

Time flies and in February 2019 Atlas Professionals officially registered a legal entity in Timor-Leste. We increased Atlas Professionals’ footprint to become the 24th office and 17th country worldwide. We recently got awarded a campaign with Maersk Drilling and we are currently providing 44 Timorese manpower on the Maersk Deliverer. I hope we will get more and more work and we will employ more Timorese professionals for many years to come.

What's the best thing about your job

Being a Port Captain and a Country Representative, people think it’s a nice job, but it is not that easy because we serve Atlas Professionals with our heart, and we also need to serve our Professionals with a big heart.

You sit alone but your HQ in Perth is listening to you and always welcoming with ideas and solutions; you are not alone and you get a great support. The best thing about my job is the support I get; I am alone in Timor-Leste but the support I have is bigger than what I thought it would be.

What do you do to relax

I have my own futsal (indoor football) club called Musila FC. We play 3 times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). Off road is one of my hobby, I usually go off roading in West Timor (Indonesia) as there is not many competition happening in Timor-Leste.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why

I would take my family to leave in Australia or UK so my kids could improve their English speaking skills, they could go to the zoo, and open their mind improving their knowledge and culture outside of Timor.

How long have you worked at Atlas Professionals

I have been with Atlas Professionals for 3 years.
