• Pro-actively promote a positive HSEQ culture on board.
• Take pride and ownership of the control room, including proper housekeeping to ensure a safe and efficient work place.
• Promote team work and be proactive and helpful towards all departments on board, including marine, lay-system, ROV, survey and subcontractors to allow the vessel to work as efficient as possible.
• Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all project and operational activities, including supervision of personnel and for the protection of working environment during the shift, strictly in accordance with the task plans and approved procedures.
• Responsible for the overall health, safety and welfare of personnel including subcontractors.
• Attend pre-shift briefing prior to commencing shift to be fully conversant with the activities of the previous 12 hours and the planned activities for the next 12-hour duration.
• Complete a “handover” briefing with the off-going Shift Supervisor so that continuity in operations is achieved and the oncoming Shift Supervisor is fully acquainted of any technical, operational and safety issues that arose in the previous 12 hours.
• Assign tasks; provide necessary information and direction to personnel reporting to the Shift Supervisor (bridge, ROV, Deck, Survey, Technicians and subcontractors) in coordination with the relevant marine personnel.
• Verify that all checks specified in the Task Plans have been implemented; document any irregularities via the correct procedure.
• Ensure best practice towards safe systems of work is implemented and that Approved Procedures and Task Plans are stringently followed, risk assessments are performed and appropriate time out for safety sessions are taken.
• Ensure that any change to Approved procedures or Task Plans have been approved through the Management of Change process as required and actively participate in the implementation of such process.
• Lead by example and enforce full compliance of all personnel under their direction with HSEQ requirements and Safety behaviours.
• Ensure that Toolbox Talks are carried out by the supervisory personnel under their direction and where necessary participate in the Toolbox Talk.
Job description
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the execution of all project and operational activities on board the vessel, in coordination with the relevant marine crew during their shift. They are accountable for ensuring that such activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and in accordance with the Approved Procedures.
