Commercial Operator & Trader

Atlas Professionals are looking for an experienced Commercial Operator & Trader for one of our esteemed clients in the Alkmaar Area. You will be working with The Capacity Marketing Company (CMC) which comprises a compact, international team tasked with upholding contractual obligations to the storage clientele and optimizing the commercial performance of Bergermeer's physical storage infrastructure. We seek a skilled Commercial Analyst & Operator to complement the CMC Operations team.

The client operates under stringent deadlines to ensure timely customer delivery and effective asset management within physical constraints. Job description

• Responsible for overseeing daily operational processes, including managing a billion-euro asset and addressing storage customer requests within contract agreements.
• Executes prompt trading to manage operational imbalances and develops hedging strategies for gas and power.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for ad-hoc operational inquiries, and contributes to the creation, development, and enhancement of procedures and customer usage forecasting.
• Supports in-house software development, from drafting requirements to user acceptance testing, and supervises an external team of dispatchers during off-hours.
• Is on call/stand-by for after-hours inquiries based on a predetermined roster.

Job requirements

Essential

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical or financial field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the energy industry, including commercial dispatching, commodity trading, or portfolio management.

Preferred

• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

Essential

• Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive under stress and handle vast amounts of information efficiently while meeting deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience in storage optimization or consumer forecasting.
• Familiarity with the European gas market and basic understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of the Dutch electricity market.
