Job description

ROLE PURPOSE 
  • Pilot the engineering, planning, and execution of subsea projects.
  • Perform and review sea fastening calculations, rigging design, and lift plans.
  • Work with draftsman to create project drawings.
  • Lead vessel mobilization and offshore operations.
  • Serve as a project engineer on vessels during high profile or complex construction projects.
  • Direct the development of equipment and installation methods.
  • Write and review task plans, procedures, and give presentations on scopes of work.
  • Create and review new designs/fabrication of tools/structures.
  • Communicate with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Any other tasks as instructed by the Engineering Manager
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Tender support specific
    • Development of optimal technical solutions around available client assets in response to client tender scopes.
    • Presentation of technical solutions as required satisfying the tender process, ensuring that the clients competitive edge is highlighted at all stages to maximize awards.
    • Apply strong commercial logic to the technical solutions developed to ensure that they are aligned with the client and client expectations and are fit for purpose.
  • Project support specific
    • Detailing the technical solutions handed over at contract award stage such that they are fully developed and able to be executed.
    • Completion and coordination of all necessary project technical document deliverables required to allow project execution.
    • Ensure project specific mobilizations are planned and completed in a safe, cost effective and timely matter.
    • Taking full responsibility for the development and execution of all Project Equipment lists
    • Management of the fabrication cycle for project specific items to ensure contractual obligations, budgets, QA/QC standards and schedules are met.
    • Support the project execution phase of the project at work sites as required to ensure that the plan is executed and any deviations from plan are controlled.
    • Ensure project close out is performed in a controlled manner with all project assets and lessons captured and handed over correctly.
  • Ensure all support is delivered on time, at optimum cost and to a level appropriate for the task in hand.
  • Liaison with internal departments and 3rd party clients/subcontractors to build on-going relationships.
  • Take a “Senior Engineer” level of control and accountability in terms of delivering large projects / multiple discrete packages of work.
KEY TASKS
  • Act as a mentor to fellow project engineers to develop them as required.
  • Ensure that all relevant engineering department procedures are followed and enforced at all times to maintain required levels of consistency and quality throughout the business. With particular emphasis on conforming with the IWR process requirements in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with HSEQS to ensure all project specific HSEQS requirements are met and all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Liaise with Structural and Hydrodynamic Analysis Engineering to ensure that all enabling works are completed on time.
  • Liaise with the Draughting team to ensure that the drawings are completed on time.
  • Liaise with the Geotechnical engineering team to ensure that the required assessment’s and configuration specifications are completed on time.
  • Liaise with Procurement to ensure that all equipment required is planned and procured on time to ensure best possible prices are obtained.
  • Liaise with Logistics to ensure that all hired equipment and client equipment logistics are understood and ultimately delivered to the relevant location on time and in a controlled manner.
  • Ensure that all information is provided to the Cost Engineering function as requested.
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues, and client representatives.
  • Ensure that the engineering manager is briefed on their specific task status on a regular basis, including ensuring that any associated issues are raised in a timely manner to allow maximum time for resolution.
  • Ensure minimum cost ‘fit for purpose’ solutions and fabrications are engineered in a timely manner to suit the tender/project schedule.
  • In conjunction with the QA department monitor, expedite and QC check all subcontractor deliverables during the delivery phase to ensure the right product is delivered at the right time.
  • Consistently promote and maintain acceptable standards of conduct and work performance for all client and third-party personnel.
  • Ensure that applicable lessons learnt from previous work scopes have been captured and applied to current tasks to mitigate the risk of reoccurrence.

Job requirements

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE

Essential Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree within relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Marine/Ocean, or related field)
  • 3-8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to identify innovative solutions.
  • Experience with subsea construction and offshore operations (3+ years)
