Job description

The SOV Vessel Operator serves as the primary liaison between the client, the external vessel management company and charterer. They facilitate daily communication and collaboration across all parties to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the vessel.


Responsibilities:
  • Support the GM in streamlining daily CSOV department operations.
  • Be the main point of contact with any customer interaction before and during all vessel charters.
  • Liaise all operational matters between customer, vessel, and technical ship management.
  • Align with vessel technical managers, and QHSE leads to guarantee safe and efficient daily vessel operations.
  • Monitor vessel performance data, anticipate potential issues, and ensure preventive measures are in place.
  • Track key performance indicators, generate weekly/ monthly reports for customers and internal stakeholder where required.
  • Collaborate with ship managers to prepare precise monthly charter invoices and handle all vessel data and reporting needs.
  • Review and monitor ship manager's monthly budget, ensuring compliance with financial targets.
  • Ensure all vessel certificates and permits are for the business at hand & oversee ship technical manager's adherence to all relevant vessel and safety regulations.
  • Facilitate weekly/monthly client and vessel technical manager meetings, producing meeting minutes, and track action items diligently.
  • Develop internal procedures and safety management system to prepare the transition of ship management inhouse.
  • Assist as needed with tender document support.
  • Swansea or Newcastle office based with occasional travel to Vessel visits.

Job requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within role or 4 years within the Marine Industry.
  • Knowledge of SOV vessel operations.
  • Good communicator who is capable of report writing in a clear and structured way.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, able to analyze operational data to help improve efficiencies and to also predict potential problems.
  • Familiar and current with computer programs used within the industry.
