The Commissioner’s job purpose is to take a wind turbine (WT) from a mechanical state into an early operational state including all associated tests and verifications of equipment conditions for safe turbine operation. It is the role of a Commissioner to turn a post inspected turbine into a safe power generating and quality operational state ready to handover not only to service but also to the customer. To achieve this, all commissioning activities are to be executed in a safe manner considering the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • If there are no commission activities taken place and or scheduled in NL or region Central you will work together with the local service organization in execution maintenances, troubleshooting, performing retrofits, SN/TN, etc. and will be guided by the local responsible employee Lead Technician
  • The maximum 183 days working abroad scheme applies in connection with the levying of wage tax in the relevant country of employment.

Job description

  • Commissioning of Nordex wind turbine generators (WTG) and associated equipment (SCADA, IT equipment, Switchgears, etc.)
  • Support the Quality department on technical non-conformities and to ensure compliance with ‘Management of Change’ requirements for reporting, developing solutions and implementation
  • Support the Q-Gate 23 process with the Site management and Quality department
  • Collate the necessary information for reporting and managing NCR`s and Incidents in software applications e.g. UPVISE/ServiceNow or the prevailing software management tool
  • Maintain close contact with Quality department for ordering and tracking missing parts and Requisition Notes (RNs)
  • Resolving quality deviations (de-snagging) to ensure not only a smooth handover to the customer but also a smooth operation over the WT lifetime. To achieve this, all commissioning and finishing activities are to be executed in a safe manner considering the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency
  • It is the general responsibility and obligation to adhere to all HSE standards, protocols and best practices
  • A Nordex Commissioner shall exhibit an upstanding culture of safety and safe work for their own person and all adjacent parties
  • Additionally, a Commissioner shall ensure the preservation of the natural environment for the areas in which work is to be performed as well as to promptly report any spillage, littering or other events which could negatively impact the surrounding area
  • It is expected that all employees conduct themselves in a professional manner observing common laws but also local laws provided in the site induction. Moreover, it is expected to be sensitive to the cultural expectations of the community.
  • Carrying out commissioning, as well as fault clearance and maintenance of wind turbines
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Adjustment, testing and parameterization of all components
  • Independent documentation of the work carried out
  • Preparation of regular reports and weekly reports
  • Securing the necessary tools and materials in the service vehicle and at the service point
  • On-the-job training of new Commissioners
  • Responsibility for compliance with HSE regulations

Job requirements

  • min. 2 years of experience in the commissioning/troubleshooting of technical industrial plants and working with WTs or associated systems
  • Experience with low, medium and high voltage component systems
  • Experience in programmable control system
Education and qualification:
  • completed training as an electrician/electronics technician, mechatronics, (process) instrumentation (IT, PIT) technician or similar on MBO4 level at least
  • Certification in standard NEN 3140/3840 & EN 501101-1 (STIPEL), hence qualified as an Electrical skilled worker (previously expected), if such standard is not passed on a 2 years refresh/fixed course the commissioner role cannot be fulfilled anymore and the employee contract need to be revised
  • Aptitude for working at heights
  • Work experience in a comparable position, ideally in the wind energy sector desirable
